Common questions

Answered honestly.

Everything couples ask me before booking, plus what the road to the day looks like. If your question isn't here, ask it in the enquiry form and I'll answer it personally.

Me, Josh. Every package on the pricing page is me behind the decks. If I'm already booked on your date, I have a small team of DJs I've handpicked, each with over ten years behind the decks, and you'll know exactly who you're getting from the start. Nobody gets switched on you. Want to hear them first? There's a mix from every one of us on the Mixes page.
Three packages, all on the pricing page, no gate and no quote round trip. Package Three is my five hour reception set at $3,850. Package Two adds MC, tube lighting and a recording for $4,600. Package One is the whole day, ceremony to last dance with MC and full lighting, for $5,800. All GST inclusive. If I'm booked, team DJ packages start at $3,300.
Accept your quote and pay a $1,000 deposit. That's it, your date is locked. The remaining balance is due one month before your wedding.
Yes, on request. If it's easier to spread the balance out over the lead-up rather than pay it in one hit, just ask and I'll set one up.
The deposit isn't refundable if you cancel, but it doesn't vanish either: you can transfer it in full to a new date, subject to your DJ's availability on that date.
Yes, that's the whole point. Before the day we jump on a music planning call. You share a must-play list, a do-not-play list, and optionally a Spotify playlist for vibe reference. I build the set around it, then adapt on the night based on what the floor is actually responding to.
I love house and disco, but I can throw down a solid pop, R&B, or indie set too. I mix through genres and decades to match the energy of the dancefloor. More dance music, less pub rock.
Yes. It's built into Packages One and Two, or you can add it to Package Three. That includes runsheet planning, on-night coordination with your venue, photographer and other vendors, and hosting the reception. Announcements, managing timing, keeping the night moving. Most couples book DJ and MC together for a smoother night.
Every booking includes my custom-built DJ booth, a wireless mic and a PA system suitable for up to 150 guests indoors or 100 outdoors. Ceremony and cocktail hour coverage, MC, lighting (neon tubes, moving heads, haze) and a live set recording are either in the bigger packages or available as extras.
The standard system covers up to 150 guests indoors or 100 outdoors. Beyond that I'll bring in an external AV company for your venue and quote it with your booking, just mention your numbers when you get in touch.
Yes. Most Victorian venues (including the Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula) are covered without a travel surcharge. For distances that require an overnight stay, travel costs apply and I'll quote those upfront. Interstate and overseas is possible depending on timing, just ask.
Most couples book 12–18 months out. Spring and early summer (October through December) fills fastest. If your date is within 6 months, it's still worth checking. There are sometimes gaps. If you're unsure, enquiring doesn't lock you in to anything.
Yes. Professional-grade equipment, spare hard drives to run music off, and a backup microphone on the night. I've never had a night go dark, and I intend to keep it that way.
Absolutely. Send through a list of the cultural songs you want, and we'll work out the format together: either a dedicated block (usually 15–20 minutes) or sprinkled through the night. What works best depends on your crowd and the vibe you're going for.

One honest note: if you're after someone with deep expertise in a specific culture's music, or want more than about half an hour of it, I'm probably not the right fit. Better to be upfront about that than to overpromise.
After you book

What the road to the day looks like.

You'll never be left wondering what happens next. Here's the whole journey.

The day you book

Lock it in with a $1,000 deposit

Accept the quote, pay the deposit, and your date is mine. My runsheet planning video lands in your inbox straight away, so the timeline stuff is sorted early.

6 months out

Extras, if you want them

A quick note from me about lighting and MC, the two things couples most often add once the planning gets real. No pressure either way.

5 months out

Runsheet planning

If I'm your MC, we sit down and map out the night together so nothing gets missed.

4 months out

Music questionnaire

Must-plays, do-not-plays, first dance, and a vibe list for the feel you want on the floor. This becomes the brief I build the night around.

3 months out

Book the planning call

I send a checklist of everything to have sorted and a link to book our music planning call. The final balance is due a month out and the reminder arrives automatically.

About 6 weeks out

Music planning call

We talk everything tunes: the brief, the moments, the songs you're not sure about. After this, I've got what I need.

The wedding day

Relax. Dance.

I handle the rest. Your only job is to enjoy one of the best days of your life.
